Knicker Wettingly Funny

Holy smokes, I have just discovered the most hilarious podcast! I heard about it this morning on The High Low (Dolly Alderton always has fantastic recommendations), and I have already steamed through the first four episodes.

Julia Davis and Vicki Pepperdine are long time collaborators, most notably in the brilliant Nighty Night and the lesser known but equally genius Camping. The podcast is a satire of regional radio, hosted by two diabolically unsympathetic and misogynistic agony aunts. The way that the two women play off against each other is breathtakingly funny, and much of the show feels improvised. I cannot imagine anyone listening to it and not laughing their heads off.

“We’ve said it before on this show, there’s plenty of bashing and banging and knocking and kicking that the vagina goes through, there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s built to last, if you look after it, oil it…”

I haven’t come across anything like this before, and I listen to a lot of podcasts. It is a very simple concept, and yet the delivery and sheer comic genius make it utterly compelling. It is excruciatingly  entertaining!
